1-7 August 2023: World Breastfeeding Week – Breastfeeding has health benefits for both mother and the baby, and World Breastfeeding Week is held in the first week of August every year to generate public awareness and support for breastfeeding. The Adult and Social Care report has data on the prevalence of breastfeeding at age 6-8 weeks in Wokingham Borough. The Berkshire West 0-19s Health Needs Assessment 2020, available on the Needs Assessments and Further Resources page, also covers breastfeeding.
5 August 2023: Cycle to Work Day – This began as a cycling commuting event, but has now become a day to celebrate everyday cycling. Use the Data Explorer tool to search for information on how many residents travel to work by bicycle, according to Census data in 2011 and 2021. The Environment report gives the minimum journey time to eight key services by bicycle and other means of transport, according to statistics complied by the Department for Transport.
12 August 2023: International Youth Day – Use the Population & Demographics report to understand the number of young people living in the borough; the mapping tool can help you visualise which neighbourhoods have the highest population of young people.
